Home of the Throwed Rolls

We have seen the billboards for two years. Last year we even stayed at an RV park right behind a Lambert’s Restaurant. The two hour wait convinced us not to visit. This year, we couldn’t resist the any longer. When we started seeing the billboards 30 minutes south of St. Louis, we knew that was going to be lunch. We didn’t arrive until 2PM, yet there was still a 30 minute wait. We sat on the porch, ala Cracker Barrel, perusing the menu.
When our time came to enter we instantly knew this place was different. We noticed that the portions were HUGE!!!!! There were people eating fried okra and the famous hot rolls off of their napkins. The place looked like a cross between Cracker Barrel and TGI Fridays.

Not long after we sat down we heard someone scream, “Hot Rolls”. The man at the table next to us put his hands up in the air and seconds later a roll went flying by my head. The man next to us caught it. Next thing you knew, my hands were up and I was catching rolls too. They were so hot they almost burned my hands. About the time the rolls hit our plate, a man came around with pails filled with sorghum and apple butter to top them off.

The waitress explained the menu and restaurant to us, “most meals are really large, if you eat it all, we’ll bring you more. We also come around with fried okra, potatoes and onions, macaroni and beans. All you have to do is let them know you want some and they’ll serve them on your plate. Oh, you can get the okra and rolls on your napkins.”

Do you see the small object at the top of the frame in this photo? That’s a roll heading straight for me.

I missed the roll in this photo, but have no fear Sam caught it.

You might be able to see, not all rolls make it to the recipient’s hands, and there are two up by the race car.

The food was really excellent. Sam and Katie split a meal of chicken and dumplings and Kristi and I split the meatloaf. Can you believe we ended up taking some home? Not bad for a $12 meal. Maybe it had something to do with those flying rolls. No wonder they have a 2 hour wait at meal time. If you ever get to Missouri and pass one of the three Lamberts I recommend you stop for an experience you won’t soon forget.

How To Take Back America

The How to Take Back America conference in St. Louis, Mo is in full swing. Today we heard from Rick Heil of SonicFlood, Dr. Rick Scarborough, Janet Porter, Phyllis Schlafley, US Representatives Tom Price and Steve King, and even Joe the Plumber. The live audience, as well as those watching worldwide on the web, are using our Total Interactive Events technology to text in questions, comments and contest enteries. Tomorrow morning we will be using the audience response system. We also are recording YouTube videos from speakers and attendees that you can view here.

Here’s a photo of Sam with US Representative Tom Price.
